Good point! I’ve stated in the syllabus that students are free to work individually or in groups of two.

Thank you for the post!
I totally agree with you that stereotyping is hard to get rid of as most of it stems from some beliefs originated from a special culture. The only way to mitigate stereotyping is through education, but I believe that it is too late if we do so in higher education. This should start from the first day in school. We should strive to build better generations as early in their lives as possible.

Thank you for this post!
Of course the skills you mentioned can be applied in classrooms. This can be accomplished for example by encouraging students from different groups to work together in projects or assignments. This should happen in an indirect way as to tell the students that you should all learn from each other’s different cultures and experiences.
Comment on Students from passive receptors to dancers?!!! by mfseddik
Yes sure. Deck of cards can be used. Any kind of activity that engage the students would be helpful. Thank you very much for the link.
Comment on Students from passive receptors to dancers?!!! by mfseddik
I think students would benefit more from participating in the dance rather than just viewing it. Of course if they are embarrassed, we can find something similar such as beads or blocks as you mentioned. The idea is to make the student more active and not just a receiver accepting knowledge. However, I still prefer dancing for those who are not embarrassed, since this may impose some sense of joy within the class.

Yes you are right. But I think viewing the video is also one type of passive learning. I want the students to be immersed in the process of knowledge generation and to be active.
