Comment on Power to the students by mokhles

I like his statement “respect for what students know”. It is actually awesome. I remembered when I visit my master’s advisor at the first time, I wanted to show my background to him, so I talked to him about a specific knowledge and he had listened to me like a student. Later, I found that he was an expert in that area but he respected me and allowed me to think that I was teaching him. It was actually a great encouragement for me and helped me to have self-confidence.

Thanks for your blog.
I remembered that we could not use the calculator during my primary school for mathematical exams. It was actually helpful to improve our computation by our own brains. I remember that we could not use the calculator in some high-scholl’s exams either.

Comment on Just be yourself . . . by mokhles

I agree. We should know ourselves and try to remove our bias before teaching any course. We should be honest with students and ourselves. We should know our disadvantages and try to improve them. One way for this task, we may ask the students to evaluate our method of teaching during the semester.

Thanks Homero for your comment.

I remember that NEF supported a wide range of students including the students who had patents. For example, I was a member of NEF, because my M.Sc. thesis had been selected in a national competition and they supported my project and gave some resources to me to prepare my idea for commercial purposes. They do not define the projects but they support the innovative projects.

Comment on to Learn, not to be taught by mokhles

I like these questions in your mind: “What do I really like? Why am I studying this major? What is my life about?”
Your idea is nice to answer some above questions. But how do you want to answer this question “What do I really like? Why am I studying this major? What is my life about?” by connected learning?

Comment on Is connected learning the efficient way to go? by mokhles

I blogged about the concerns regarding connected learning. When I read your post, I understood that there is another important concern regarding connected learning. It is “repetitive information”. Though Internet can be useful to share information, we may face to a lot of information and it may be confusing for the readers. So, if connected learning wants to be a good education system in the future, I believe that we need to design some websites for this purpose and encourage the students to refer to those websites.
