Comment on Can we multitask? by Negin Forouzesh

I generally agree with your opinion on multitasking. However, I argue that you need to define the word TASK more clearly to be able to support your point of view. I myself would rather to listen to piano songs without words while programming, as it makes more concentrated. Now, is listening to such a music a TASK or not? I honestly don’t care! What is important for me is to find a harmless, accessible and enjoying solution to be more efficient.

Comment on Considering Video Games and Play as Criteria for Course Design by Negin Forouzesh

Hi Tim,

It was nice reading your opinions about video games as learning tools.
While there have been successful initiatives, I believe we as computer scientists can do far better to convert K-12 curriculum in the format of interactive video games. Assuming that the main audience of video games are kids, we can engage them in ACTIVE learning by designing and developing educational video games.

Comment on Gaming the System by Negin Forouzesh

Hi Ray,

It was a quite comprehensive discussion on the pros and cons of using digital technologies at classrooms. As a computer science graduate student, I have always carry my laptop to any classes. It is often essential to be able to follow-up what the instructor teaches on my laptop. On the other hand, I can understand those people who dislike the idea of having laptops in classrooms; as depending on the topic, laptops might not be a helpful learning tool but just a distracting device besides cellphones and tablet! Therefore, as you mentioned, I agree that “the use of technology in the classroom is self-evidently situational”.

Comment on Networked Learning in an Age of Digital Discourse for the Human by Negin Forouzesh

Hi Tim,

It was interesting to see how our challenging discussion during the class could be related to our assignment on Networked Learning. I believe concerns regarding data privacy are very bold now, especially after calling the CEOs of giant Tech companies by the court due to their potential abuse of data in 2018. In my opinion, users and software companies should come up with a crystal clear comprehensive agreement prior to any communication to avoid any data misuse. While such agreements may already exist, I think they are neither easy to read nor quite expressive.
