“I’m learning this focus also has implications for how my students react and interact with me.”
This sentence resinated with me because i think it was important that you took the time to pay attention to your interaction with student, but more so how students react. This is important because we are all different and when an educator pays attention to students reactions inadvertently we tweaking how to be better or how to get the student to be better.

I also read “Finding my Teaching Voice”, but it reminded me of people trying to emulate me because they thought I was an interesting person. Throughout life I have always wondered why I seemed to be the leader of “clique” where ever I was. I recognized it was not because I was any “cooler” than the other girls, its because I wasn’t afraid to show my true self, I guess I showed confidence and didn’t care about other peoples opinion of me. Likewise I think when we are teaching we need to be true to ourselves and then and only then we can do a good genuine job of teaching confused students.
I totally agree with the title so much. We have to expose who we are to be an effective teacher and leader. I want my students to understand me and why i push them hard to achieve, i also want them to be comfortable with them self to build confidence. Sorry to read about your bad dream.
Nice post, I love the quotes. I too heard that disney was fired from a job for his lack of imagination, but now we can see that it is quite the opposite. I feel its very important to make education fun but not to lose the gravity and true reason we are being educated. I like the fact that you took time to state that the word 'game' could also be used to belittle something.
Hey,
I really love this post, mainly because i was thinking of writing on the very same thing. Quite frankly lectures are still important in the transfer of knowledge. combining lectures with other tools to keep students interested is what we need to look into.
Good job!
Hey,
I totally identify with your blog as i spend my leisure time thinking (more like worrying) about the future. I think the education system is sucking the creative out of our students.
Catchy title, so i could not resist reading your post. The Qwerty example stated out to me also, when have been going down that path of carrying on the traditions of our predecestors even though its not necessarily best for us. I believe we need to break tradition and think of innovative solutions to identified problems in our educational system.
Interesting blog, like you I had to look up that secretive application. To have that window which allows us to view the progress and level of understanding of our students is imperative. I also liked the fistulated cow analogy. I did this to a goat once and it gave me great insight on the digestive tract.o have that window which allows us to view the progress and level of understanding of our students is imperative.
Yes, teachers are infact the facilitators of learning. Today’s students can very easily find and learn information on just about any subject matter on the internet. As future professors we need to give the students to tools to sift through and assimilate this information and more importantly to apply what is learnt in a creative way. i like the idea of the informal learning atmosphere on the internet.
