Really interesting post! The photo you chose was very complex, and I like how you dug so deep into the tumultuous history of that one building. It’s hard to believe that so much beauty can coincide with such atrocities, which will continue to be a theme throughout many of the events in this class. It’s interesting how it was sold as a place of beauty to tourists, when such a complex history lies beneath. I think it will be interesting to see what happens to this church in the future as the Orthodox church tries to rebuild.

This was a really interesting post! Greco-Russian relations are not something that we tend to think about historically, but I really liked how you explained it and even mentioned the remains of that relationship today. This post showed how diverse and more complex Russia is than we tend to think– with both the relationship with Greece and the importance of tea. I think you’ll find this theme continues through most of Russian history.

I really like this photo and I think your analysis was really interesting. Especially with the legacy of the Soviet Union, I think we tend to look to Russia as a much more unified ethnicity than it really is. It’s interesting how this diversity is so tied up with tea, which is also not normally associated with Russia. You did a great job with this post!
