Hi Negin, I think you raise a valuable point that it is important to develop relationships outside of our “bags” or segments in order to diversify our own experiences and protect against implicit and explicit biases. How would you operationalize this in the classroom?

Comment on Being “impartial” and how it has the opposite effect by Ray Thomas
Connor, I really appreciated your concrete examples of how to build inclusivity. Given the tense atmosphere these days I’ve been trying to be more sensitive to these issues in class and with dealing with potentially difficult subjects (like “Islamic” terrorism” and the many tropes this post-9/11 world has created that inform student opinions. I think some of your suggestions would go a long way to getting students to feel more comfortable discussing difficult topics.

Pallavi, thank you so much for your comment. That’s why I guess we should not take the meaning of “diversity” or “inclusivity” for granted. But the point you made here seems very crucial, which is the involvement of communities in any decision-making process.

Comment on Men are better at Science than women : a case of gender bias in Academia by khaledalshehri
Wonderful post Adbhut, I am not sure how he can think about women like this. I really like how you linked this to the inclusive pedagogy in the conclusion of your post, and I think the inclusive pedagogy can make a huge change in these biases. Thank you for writing this.

Thanks for your great comment. I agree that it is an endless effort to learn more about our hidden brain and caught our thought under its influence and finally modify it gradually.
