Thanks for sharing your experience, Ben! I think every discipline could have an “immersive” aspect to it – it largely depends on the creativity of the instructor. The VR is a good option, as well as other options – case studies, role-playing, foreign exchange programs through virtual means, break out games (https://www.breakoutedu.com/), among others. Great post, Meredith! Just like you, I wouldn’t mind if my data was aggregated with others to improve user experiences on these sites. To your first question, I believe we should be informed about how our data would be used and be able to decide whether or not we want to consent. To your second question, while it might be good to inform students that their data might be used by these sites, I think it is rather futile to inform them, if you are not going to provide them with an alternative.
