Thanks for the post! Really cool video, I’m curious per knowing students how teachers are able to establish such a connection in MOOCs if at all?

That’s really awesome that you leveraged art to enhance creativity. Was this in a class or cohort where artistic creation was not previously and expectation?

Thanks for the post! Pain treatment is a really weird issue today, it’s super subjective, judgement called based, and hard to escape implicit biases.

Solid memeing with Morpheus and pals. Easily one of the top 4 word clouds I’ve seen on pedagogy this week!

Interesting use of the building as a metaphor, sort of reminds me of the memory palace concept. Is this a common practice for conceptual visualization?

Thanks for the post! When you mention willingness to discuss biases and such, what forms would you imagine that taking? How would you initiate and moderate such tough conversations?
Comment on Diversity….brilliant minds working together…. by jschlittepi
This diversity of group intelligence seems one of the easiest, non-altruism requiring ways of promoting inclusivity. 2008 was a horror show of what can happen when you have corporate executive boards populated with largely the same person (older caucasian males born into wealth). Beyond just increasing the intelligence of a group by diversifying it’s members, stability against awful decisions is likewise enhanced by the addition of potential naysayers.

That’s interesting wording with the advocate for diversity bit there. How would you recommend advocating without risking othering students in the process? Beyond just a clear statement of values, promoting views equitably, and guiding/ correcting behavior where necessary, it seems a tricky position to advocate rather than defend?

Thanks for the post! Yes, gamification of the course matter resulted in some of the most enjoyable days of K-12. First responders really like to use jeopardy matches for after meeting trainings to the same effect.

Hi Patrick, thanks for posting! That question of death is an interesting way to put it, I can’t imagine anyone does their best work on the first time through a course. Perhaps rather than coming off as the old-hand expert, maybe an approach of “that’s an interesting question, let’s figure it out together” would suffice?
