I’d highly recommend watching it! While the partisans aren’t really shown, they are mentioned often by Ivan and the officers.

Leave it to the Soviets to be the most progressive country in the world on gender equality. Despite a lack of personal freedoms, they definitely made up for it with at least the presumption of equality.

I think it’s kind of funny that the Soviets were able to look at the past and see that the Germans strategy wouldn’t work, but the Germans totally forgot about the past failure and proceeded without thinking twice. Hindsight is 20-20 I guess

I believe this was done because while Khrushchev was announcing atrocities done internally to the Soviet Union this one was external. Done to a different countries citizenship rather than their own.

I don’t understand how they thought that no one would put the pieces together and figure out what they had done. It makes me wonder if there were any more similar events that were successfully covered up that no one knows about.
