Great post! I agree with you. Throughout the class, we discussed the importance of learning together. Encouraging students to be active learners rather than be a bunch of memory disks, is really important.

Comment on Things I am going to keep in mind as a future teacher by Rathsara Herath
Great post Riya! I think I’m also on the same page as you. Being a student for such a long period I think I know (I guess we all know) what works, which teacher we liked the most and why?. But I do not think I ever put all together until I took these classes. I really like what your advisor does. Because I think when students are comfortable with you, they are more likely to approach you with their questions.

Comment on What is Critical Pedagogy? by Rathsara Herath
Great post. I like how you have two main topics in the post and everyone in the group has their own thought on it. This reflects well on critical pedagogy. Everyone thought is important. I think Collaborative learning is an effective and efficient way learning which is really important in a classroom. I like Vibhav’s thought; “Learning is a pleasurable activity, which teaches people not only how to read the word but also read the world”. I think with critical pedagogical ideas one can make learning enjoyable.
Comment on Group Blog Post on Critical Pedagogy by Rathsara Herath
Great post! I really liked the cartoon drawing in the post. It is creative and it says everything. The most important thing is to encourage students to think and learn through their experience their imagination, not cut and paste them into a robot who does what you ask them to do.

I like your idea of the graduation cap. After all, that is every student’s goal. I think by applying critical pedagogical techniques to the education system can improve learning and add value to it. I like your definition of critical pedagogy based on “individual empowerment ” through interactive learning and how you demonstrate it in different fields. I agree with Riya’s thought on interactive classrooms; ” Knowing your students, their limitations and vulnerabilities and incorporating such tools in the lecture that would help them overcome these”. Every student brings their own experience to the classroom. it is an advantage for students that they can share there own thought and here others and learn as a group.
Comment on A Collaborative Definition of Critical Pedagogy through Jig-Saw Pedagogy by Rathsara Herath
I agree with the fact that in learning teacher and the students are in the same group. Both are teaching and learning together. I like that every one of you has talked about how you can apply critical pedagogy in your own field and them summing it up to one goal, learning together.

Comment on Open ‘Critical’ Pedagogy by Rathsara Herath
Thank you for sharing this interesting work with us Pallavi. As Paulo Ferrier and many other educators emphasise, teaching is a powerful tool to change society in a good way. Teaching can open peoples mind and make them think and imagine to make their life and society a better place.

Comment on Can homework assignments and rubrics be copyrighted? by Rathsara Herath
Thanks for the Great post.Interesting example. I don’t see the point copywriting homework. Most of the time instructors take homework from textbooks(some times they change them a bit most of the time they don’t) anyway. The other thing is, doesn’t matter whether it is the same instructor or a different one, don’t you have to change your homework anyway? (if not it’s like this is my copyrighted assignment you know where to find answers… )
Comment on Diversity by Rathsara Herath
I agree with you Adbhut. The main problem is “people don’t realize that they are being racist”. Its because no one is speaking out about this or say this is wrong. So I think the first step forward would be starting to speak out about racism.

I totally agree with you Arash. Until or unless you speak out about these situations people won’t stop being bias because no one is there to say this is wrong.
