Comment on Open Access Journals by skinzie

Thanks for your post! I agree with your comments about being cautious of predatory open access journals. Though I had not previously been familiar with this concept, I myself stumbled upon a predatory journal in the process of writing my blog post.

Comment on Open Access Journals by dustinsong

Hi Medha, thanks for your sharing. I am curious how much more typically the authors should pay if they want to pursue with the open-access journals? Also, this leads to the question how publishers maintain their models with only income from the charge of authors. One video in our background information mentioned that the business world will figure out a way to survive and thrive in the new model. However, I would like to explore more because if we showed them how to profit/maintain this business, publishers would be more willing to cooperate with researchers on the open-access journals. Thanks! – Yang

Comment on Blog Post 5 – Future of the University by rewehbe

Although many alternatives to the traditional education have popped up, I m not sure if any of these alternatives, at least in their current state, can rival a proper university education. Education has always been at the heart of all universities and I am not sure whether they will ever give it up. In my opinion the best approach for a university is to try and innovate in the current education system until they can find what works best for the generation of students.
