I have never heard of Lyudmila Pavlichenko before this article and it was awesome to learn about her. We always hear about Rosie the Riveter but it is cool to know there was more equivalents to her in other countries at the time. I especially love her quote regarding not killing men but killing fascists.

I also had never heard of this before I first read about it for this blog post. It is amazing that so many terrible things occurred over this time period that things like this are still relatively unknown about for most people.

They initially continued a prohibition policy adopted by the tsarist regime in 1914 but the black market found its ways haha. in Freeze 331 it literally says “the government conceded defeat and in 1925 reintroduced state production of vodka.” So I would say quite the failure as expected

I agree that that is something that definitely plays a role. Having such a large swath of land is incredibly difficult to control, as shown by the Roman empire. Its interesting how this disadvantage is also an advantage at times too. Along with the horrific winters having such a large country makes it very difficult to be taken over in military conflict

I find it very interesting that in the propaganda poster it shows a very happy group of individuals. While this obviously makes sense for propaganda it is still a striking contrast to what the actually felt emotions of the peasants, the kulaks, who disliked collectivization.

This is a very good post that shows information on a very interesting and important man in Soviet history. The quotas that were created for arrests and executions are very interesting and grim fact as well.
