I love your writing style for this blogpost. It really helped paint a picture of how the Kulaks where so badly mistreated for doing nothing. Also it helped me to further understand what they had to go through as a group during this time. Great post!

I enjoyed reading your post and learning how much the Soviets helped improve life and rights for Women. The establishment of granting women the right to divorce was an absolutely key change that sent shockwaves through the society. Although this was a great thing I like how you also pointed out the issues this caused for others such as the children and the difficulties of supporting children on one paycheck. Great post!

You make a very strong argument regarding the importance of youth to societies and the future they play in government. Your line that “they will either grow up to support or revolt” I found especially striking. These idea can be seen throughout history and even today. The youth is always the key to the future and Soviets understood this very well.

I find it very interesting that the Japanese chose to ally with the side of the Whites. This is the same side, if i’m correct, that was representing the old government in which the Japanese fought in the Russo – Japanese war in 1904 – 1905 which left the Russian defeated and humiliated. I would be curious how this “alliance” came to be and if the Reds used this as further propaganda against the Whites. Great post!

Russia, until post WWII had never truly attained a solid grasp on the “great-power” status even though they desperately yearned for it. The displeasure from the Russia’s failures in WWI certainly helped lead to greatly things such as the eventual insurrection as you pointed out.

I agree, compared to the Treaty of Versailles, Brest-Litvosk is far the more easy going one. Granted, I wonder if the Germans would have aimed for a far more punishing version if they had known what was to come in terms of their repercussions for WWII in the Treaty of Versailles.

I love the writing style you use for your blog, partly because I’m a huge Star Wars fan, but also it offers a perspective to view history that is unique and outside the norm. It helps you to be able to view and think about historical events in a different mindset. The chronological description you use to describe the events is also very helpful to further understand the timing of events.
