Loved your initiative!
The lack of volunteers besides Japanese students can also be part of little dissemination of the activity. Personally, I did not hear about it. Please spread the word if these still going on

Comment on My Story by sofrgp
Wow, thank you for sharing your personal experience. Before reading your post I did have a very different opinion on the topic. My arguments were just regarding how unfair it was that men were aloud to drive and women do not. But now, I have the full picture an it make me realize how woman are value in your country and it totally changes my thoughts.
Comment on The unnoticed assumption by sofrgp
I agree Qichao, normally we create hundreds of assumptions when we do not take the risk to go beyond of the known. As future professors, we should think in how are we going to provide a platform to our learners so they can take advantage of the diverse opportunities as you did learning from the Arabic culture.
Comment on Inclusive Pedagogy for International Students by sofrgp
I have experienced most of your expressed fears and feelings on your post and I am not from any East Asian countries. So, probably this can be extrapolated for most of the international students who still struggles with the barrier of language. The think-share-pair sounds like a good strategy to be sure that every ones opinion is expressed at least with a person.
Comment on Taking teaching into the next level by sofrgp
Thanks for your comment Jyotsana,
I am with you, sometimes it is so hard to apply the theory. Some thoughts to create a conductive environment is giving group assignments/projects/discussions and changing teams constantly. Other one, that actually Dr. Nelson uses on her class is to change seats each class to encourage conversation between different students.
Do you have any other strategy in mind?
Comment on The Secret Sauce by sofrgp
In every good recipe, there is always a secret ingredient. After reading your post and thinking in what would be the secret ingredient for teaching, I realized that passion is the secret ingredient. Passion help to enjoy what we do and as consequence help to be a useful guide for students. Of course, we should always be aware of other important details as you described above.

Great analogy!
I am with you, we must find our own personalized “flavor” to teach.
We just have to keep in mind that out there several strategies have been proved effectiveness, so, if we incorporate those to our own teaching way, the chance of “successful” will be greater.
Comment on What is your Signature? by sofrgp
Diana I loved your post. Congrats for the presentation, you did not mentioned how it ends, but I and sure that it was a completely successful.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and techniques. I would definitively try to apply them. My favorite one, is to try to engage the audience with a very creative slide.
My answer to your last question is “participation”. I hate classes where just the professor talks. So, I always try to create questions for the students, in that way they can think about the topic and share with the group.
Comment on What, Why… ok! but How? by sofrgp
Yes, and I must say that I am so excited with the idea of having a ripple effect through higher education by applying at least one collective idea.
*Btw, I really pictured you with a puzzle expression, hahah

Thank you so much for yout thoughts.
I am totally with you, by sharing experiences and ideas we will be able to develop our own techniques. In this way we will be able to apply them and see if they work and improve students performance.
