It is true that the time that we spend in school is far less than the time that we spend in real-life implementing the knowledge that we gather in a school. It is very important to learn the tools and find a connection with real-life.

Yes, the whole idea is to make a class interesting. If a teacher can make the students excited about the class or a project, 90% job is done there, the rest 10% is to direct the class in the desired direction.

An eye-catching class can be broadcasted as a movie. I liked this statement of you. As you said, people concentrate on a movie and should do the same in a class. In fact, there is a similarity, we pay for both. Once a professor said, students are the only customers who demand less than what they pay for.

Making the students realize the importance of the topic helps a lot in terms of building up a learning environment in the class. I once dropped a class on statistics. The class was taught by a senior professor, however, I felt like he failed to create curiosity in me on the importance of the techniques he was teaching. Connecting with real world is the best in this regard.

I had a labmate from Saudi Arabia back in Washington State University. We talked a lot about this driving restrictions for women. He also mentioned that the Saudi society cares a lot about women and don’t want them to get on the road and make them vulnerable. However, it’s great that women can drive now. You must be very excited to go back and press the gas!
